Help shape the future plan for accommodating Maidstone’s Gypsy, Traveller and Travelling Showpeople communities
Maidstone Borough Council is committed to meeting the accommodation needs of the Borough’s Gypsy, Traveller and Travelling Showpeople communities in a sustainable way. We are preparing a plan that seeks to balance the needs of all communities whilst protecting the borough’s natural and built environment.
Our latest draft plan contains our preferred policies and potential sites for development. The plan explains things such as:
How many new pitches and plots are needed
Where these could be located
How planning applications will be assessed
How we’ll protect the local environment and landscape
How to get involved We are seeking your feedback on the draft proposals. Do you agree or disagree with our draft policies and sites? How can we further refine the plan to best achieve the proposed objectives? Do you have a potential site we might consider for inclusion in the plan to provide new pitches and/or plots?
To view the Plan and give us your views, or if you have a site you would like us to consider for inclusion in the plan, simply visit: https://maidstone.oc2.uk
Consultation is open: 9:30am on 27 November 2025 to5pm on 11 January 2026.
What next: The information you provide will help us to understand your thoughts on our preferred policy approaches and how we can refine the Plan to best meet the accommodation needs of the Gypsy, Traveller and Travelling Showpeople communities. This feedback will help us draft the next stage of the Plan – the proposed submission Plan (Regulation 19).
