A LIVING HELL
I live in Lenham and have daily carer responsibilities for my elderly parents aged 92 (living with cancer and macular degeneration) and aged 82 (living with dementia) who live in Hythe. I care for them to try in a small way to unburden the faltering care sector as much as I can.
I frequently have hospital appointments to get them to in Dover, Folkestone, Canterbury and Ashford, in short all over the County to ease the burden on the NHS by using the increasing number of pop up portable cabins in hospital car parks.
Now one of the two candidates for Prime Minister has announced an intention to fine NHS patients who miss appointments! What am I supposed to do when the vital arterial route of the M20 is used as a lorry park that strangles the life out of the A20 that becomes gridlocked as a consequence, with a knock on affect on the M2 and A2 causing us to sit in the car for hours inhaling the petrol and diesel fumes of vehicles as far as the eye can see and beyond! East Kent isn’t a great advert for reducing climate change through exhaust emissions!
I’ve tried the country lanes and single lane tracks before to find a foreign plated HGV has caused even greater chaos and even longer delays (if ever that seems possible).
Stab me in the back with a fine for being late for the appointment too why don’t you with yet another Ill thought out policy!
Talk about finding a resolution to this problem has gone on for too long. Talk is Cheap!
Action is needed NOW!
Consultation has concluded.
