My family still live in East Kent
I lived in Deal from 1974- 2001and in Dover, where I was born and raised, before that
I am less affected these days by the road disruptions than I was prior to 2017-2019, when I lost my parents (who would have ever expected one's parents both dying to be referred to as a positive thing!!) BUT during the years when I worked in Ashford and then later while my Mum and Dad (in their late 80s) both ill it often took me twice as long as it should have done to get down to see and care for them. There was no such thing as a quick pop - either to Dover or to the William Harvey Hospital.
Now I only really need to use the M20 if I want to visit family, including my (disabled) sister who still live in Deal, or any of my ex-colleagues and friends from a lifetime and a long career spent in the area, who I like to keep in touch with, but who don't fancy driving UP through Operation Brock to visit me in Maidstone. And as they have to deal with the nightmare disruption on a daily basis it feels like it's down to me to suffer the hassle for social visits.
