Lockmeadow is an important space for Maidstone, and we want to make it a more vibrant, attractive and welcoming place for everyone. The Council is exploring ways to improve the outdoor areas, strengthen the community offer, and create a destination that feels lively, enjoyable and well‑used throughout the year.

The vision for Lockmeadow focuses on community engagement, greener spaces, health and wellbeing, better access and long-term sustainability.

The proposals include:Ideas for Potential Improvements

  • More trees, planting and biodiversity
  • Flexible space for events and community activities
  • New seating and gathering spaces
  • Space for markets, cafés and local businesses

The aim is to introduce new green spaces, encourage people to spend time outdoors and create an attractive riverside destination for residents and visitors.

We are asking residents, visitors and local businesses to share their ideas on how the space could be improved — from events and activities to layout, design, and the future of the Market Hall and weekly markets.
