Pride in Place is a government-funded programme bringing long-term investment to communities across England. Park Wood & Senacre has been selected as one of a small number of areas to benefit, with funding to be directed by a local Neighbourhood Board over the next 10 years.

Use this page to tell us what you think should change in the Park Wood & Senacre area - whether that is something specific to your street or a broader issue affecting the area. Your contribution will be shared with the Neighbourhood Board and help shape priorities for the 10-year Pride in Place Plan.

Have your say

There are two ways to contribute on this page:

The map shows the full Pride in Place area, covering Park Wood & Mangravet, Senacre, Shepway, and parts of Loose and Linton. You can use it to drop a pin on any location you think could benefit from investment or improvement. Add a comment to tell us what you would like to see change, and upload photos if they help tell the story.

The comments box is there for broader observations - things that are harder to pin to a single location, or general thoughts about what life is like in the area and what you would most like to see improve.

Consultation closes: 31 July 2026

What to look for

You do not need to be an expert to contribute. If something in your neighbourhood feels wrong, unsafe, underused, or neglected, it is worth flagging. Examples might include:

  • Empty or derelict buildings and land
  • Green spaces that are poorly maintained or inaccessible
  • Streets or public areas that feel unsafe
  • Community facilities that are lacking or in poor condition
  • Barriers to getting around on foot, by bike, or by public transport

This is not an exhaustive list - if something matters to you, share it.

What happens with your contributions

Everything submitted through this page - pins, photos, and comments - will be reviewed and analysed as part of the wider community engagement process. The findings will be shared with the Neighbourhood Board to help shape investment priorities for the area. You may also see themes reflected in future engagement events and workshops.

I think the woodland that runs parallel to Woolley Road and ends the bottom of Woolley Road near the near estate should be purchased and turned into a property nature reserve. This would create a lovely area for family’s and dog walkers while protecting from further development. The bearsted woodland trust would be can candidate example of this.

I have submitted formal proposals to the council for community uses and projects but unfortunately they have never even been acknowledged.

-Would be nice to see a bit more landscaping put in place in barer areas
-The garages specifically in Ifield close Senacre need refurbishing as paint peeling off doors, the roofs and faciers need replacing and probably the gutters
- would like to see the council edging the weeds and over grown grass on the pavements around senacre a regular thing, my son did the whole entrance road to Ifield close as it was terrible and now he’s made it look nice and tidy, if the maintenance crews just buzzed the pavement edges where the grass over grows with a strimmer every time they mow, it will stay maintained and easy to keep that way.

Senacre needs a coffee shop/community hub where people can get together and chat. This would create more of a community feel in the area, which is lacking at present. It would also alleviate loneliness in older people living alone in the area. This could easily be in the shop in Senacre Square which has been empty and unused for several years.

You can do as much tidying up as you want but unfortunately some residents don’t care live lawlessly and have done so for a long time with impunity. Focus on the problem families and problem people deal with them with all available prosecution agencies. Remove untaxed and unroadworthy cars. Once that’s done then move to the next stage of sorting out the environmental issues. People that are honest and hard working are sick of the feral behaviours that have continued to blight senacre and parkwood.
