Maidstone is a filthy town, litter a big problem throughout Kent, unfortunately I think Kent could well be the dirtiest County in the Country. A roads and motorways, especially slip roads are strewn with litter, whoever we as tax payers pay to clear it, its not being done, I am ashamed how I see our County nowadays. Rubbish bins too small and not emptied frequently enough. Why o why are grass verges still being cut and strimmed before a litter pick, 100 pieces of litter turn into 1000s. Temporary roads signs and cones frequently left after works, can be seen left on many roads and verges rusting away. Road markings not kept painted and clear to road user, pot holes not repaired, drains blocked with debris. County town of Kent, no decent shops...ok if you want a coffee, your nails done or a charity shop. High St is used by more and more vehicles, it is supposed to be restricted, but not Policed. High St pedestrianised area has been dug up numerous times in numerous places only to be filled in with tarmac, and not the nice blocks that must have initially cost a small fortune replaced. River Len, as it runs beneath Sainsbury and The Mall, look over from the bus station, its always full of litter, shopping trollies, cones, a disgrace, as is the exit from Sainsbury car park opposite Albion Place by The Kent Gurkha Company. Electric scooters, more and more on our pavements, even in The Mall and Royal Star Arcade. Noise from motorcycles and quad bike exceeding legal limits, getting worse and worse, day and night. Come on MBC and KCC you need to do better, we pay more than enough Council Tax.

All you need to do is look on all the comments as to how Maidstone used to be. Like many places in the U. K. We have lost our industrial investment in the town and it’s a shambles. Rundown with many of our historical buildings falling apart. Needs millions injected to smarten it up. Such a shame it’s been allowed to go to the dogs. It’s most valuable asset has been destroyed by people taking backhanders in order to bring their gargoyle buildings to the riverside thereby wasting the opportunities to bring people to Maidstone most attractive feature, namely the River Medway. This could have been developed as Maidstone main attraction.

I feel very sad now about the demise of Maidstone town centre; the lack of up market shopping the dubious men and drunks hanging around town I never shop there now but talking to friends I know I’m not alone Maidstone used to be a family town but this obsession with buildings flats and the transient population it brings has stopped Maidstone thriving We have a fabulous river if traffic noise was less and great schools and are near the motorway network but just lately it feels link Chatham mark two

Although plenty of third party services, the council doesn't seem to engage nor care for people and their mental wellbeing. Every plot of land is being turned into new housing and the treasures like Maidstone Museum are being "modernised" and made to look appalling and generate income instead of appreciating the history. Local councillors are very slow if at all willing to engage and yet the council seem to be surprised that crime rates are rising as they get rid of some activity place or playground to make room for more housing. Maidstone was once perhaps a nice place to live, but over the years it has been transformed into the toilet of Kent. It says something when somebody will only choose to live in an area because its "easier" to get to work, but if left down to the decision of general wellbeing, not a person I know would "choose" to live here.

I think MBC is run very poorly. Local councillors are useless in general. Waste collection services should be run by the council. The council don't listen to residents.

My biggest fear is getting my daughter home safely from work. The city at night is very dangerous full of drunken young, brazen people. My daughter and I have already been attacked twice when we were returning from work Home. You need to make a serious mess with it. because the buses do not run at night even if they have a written departure time.

Far too many houses being built and no additional doctors surgeries. The roads are busier than ever due to all the houses. Not enough Police on the streets,it feels alot more dangerous in town from 7pm than it ever did.

The council seems to let any other authority house problem people in the local area. This is brining down the local area and the high street. The High Street and Week street is a mess of alcoholics, druggies, and yobs, if you try to avoid these someone driving down the pedestrian areas in the middle of the day will get you instead.

Maidstone is run by Communists. The local government isn’t business friendly, no visible messages to attract investments. The local government seems to sit and wait for hand-outs from Westminister.

We feel that Maidstone council are allowing far too many planning applications to be allowed ruining the area for everyone. The roads are getting far too busy and far too fast and dangerous not to mention dirty and in cared for. We are looking into moving away from Maidstone

I think the street cleaning should be made made more often, the city is too dirty. I think trees and water quality especially around the pond in Mote Park should be addressed.

Why not use the many empty buildings in Maidstone and the surrounding areas for housing, rather than continuously building on our open spaces? The old Barrett’s factory by the river is crying out for redevelopment for example. It’s time to start using brown-field sites over green-field ones, otherwise we won’t have any decent open spaces to use to take lengthly walks for exercise and dog walks.

I'd love to see Maidstone planners enhance the focus on the river and it's historic buildings. There should be more places to eat and drink along the river. I'd also love to see more investment in the arts and greater links to locally produced food and drink that surrounds us.
