The whole area would be better if they bought back the village police and also spent our council tax money on the things that are needed ie repairs rather than the councillors lining there own pockets

Planning in Maidstone is a misnomer. There is effectively no real planning, just ticking boxes. Developers are laughing all the way to the bank and running rings around so called planners. When will they realise that high density 3 storey buildings, which are now the norm on EVERY new development, are not in keeping with Kent and it’s villages, just a way of packing in more units per sq ft by the developers. Where are all the new bungalows, once a desirable home for senior citizens? Not profitable enough obviously. Local planners seem determined to turn Maidstone into a another Croydon. We have a potentially beautiful riverside, totally despoiled by rubbish planning and endless commercial units and possibly the UKs ugliest hotel…….

Traffic problems in Maidstone are much worse than a decade ago, made worse by Sutton Road development and the absence of a Leeds Bypass. Willington Street and New Cut Road were never intended to carry this increased amount of traffic. Lower Stone Street remains a visual mess. Planning decisions remain doubtful and out of local decision-making, for example Church Road development, Otham.

I find the lack of good planning in the borough has slipped over the last 40+ years and more visual input by officers and members prior to issuing planning approvals. The lack of visual input at completion. I am aware that that MBC does not have to oversee this as private companies can oversee this work , but it would be advise able.

Nothing about speed or state of road. Where we live it would be helpful to have our Lane one way with a speed limit (it is Bly a single track) and whenever there is a hold up on M20/A20 it is used as a “rat run”. We are all elderly and have to take our lives in our hands trying to get out, but no one wants to know

I find parking around Springfield to be a major issue. Too much development with insufficient parking for residents visitors and the disabled. There is no on street parking whatsoever. In my opinion this was never addressed in the planning and approval stage. This is only getting worse as a further150 units have now come on to the market. Now that Council has acquired the old 12 storey library you could develop a private car park and sell the spaces off for an annual rental of between £750 to £1,000 which I know residents here would pay.

- Services on the website I listed in a completely crazy way e.g. parking is under 'A' for Apply - The one way system is a nightmare with no clear road markings it is so difficult to tell how many lanes there are and which one is for going where. - River paths are beautiful but not well maintained - The council assumes everyone has a car and doesn't make enough allowances for people who want to walk - walking paths to lots of places are dangerous because traffic is prioritised - The council allows too many new builds without getting existing vacant spaces back into use -Also there is too much multi occupancy housing in areas where there is only street parking and it is not sustainable

The main problem I think is the traffic speed in the smaller streets in Maidstone. 20mph should be better I live with a traffic calming ramp outside my house and I have to park in such away tha two cars can’t pass at the same time. I was nearly hit a few times getting in my car and have had my wing mirror damaged before I decided to park differently. Lastly the cost of parking in Maidstone is such that we don’t go into Maidstone to do any cloth shopping now. Thank you.

It is impossible to complete the survey because it will not accept my log in details!! Do you really want the survey completed? I have many concerns about living in Maidstone, a big one is the amount of litter and rubbish in our streets and parks, I visit Mote Park regularly and every time I visit there is always litter strewn around the park particularly after an event has taken place, how the park was given a green flag award I cannot understand. The staff that work in the park work very hard to keep it tidy and is appreciated, however it is the general public who spoil it for everyone else, people who are able to carry cans and packaging into the park are not capable of carrying the used items to a litter bin or home if the bin is full, but instead just leave it anywhere. Litter bins with closed lids might help to stop the foxes getting in to the open bins and strewing the rubbish about. The area around the skate park often has empty cans and bottles left around, presumably by some of the young people and families that use that area who are meant to be so environmentally aware and concerned for the future of the planet, not all young people and families by any means. Other issues include, residents parking - why should we pay a further tax to park in our own street, free residents parking permits would be the answer. Fly tipping - ruins the countryside and local roads maybe don't charge for people to discard large items. Infrastructure - a complete lack of foresight with roads, utilities and schools when new homes built. I could go on.............

"Click here to begin the Resident Survey" I am already registered & logged in, but it asks for a login when selecting the survey link. I enter my details and NOTHING! That in itself sums up everything about Maidstone currently - Incompetent & not fit for purpose. Rant - stop granting planning permission if there's no developer investment in infrastructure, stop importing Londons low life, stop wasting money on vanity projects - Week street is a mess, millions wasted

My biggest worry is access to internet , not just for myself , copper wires and approx 0.3mb download max , but so many students over lockdown in my area had the same problem. It will have held students back , and continues to do so.

Also stop the over building! We are already over populated enough with no space to register at GPs, dentists etc. And the proposal to build on the Dean Street nature reserve is just horrible.

Stop destroying biodiversity in the name of 'tidy' spaces. I am pretty sure most residents would prefer to see wildflowers, bees, butterflies, birds etc than over mown patchy half dead grass. Horrible graffiti and fly tipping down by the river. The town centre is polluted. I used to live in the town centre and parking is getting even worse due to houses being converted into flats at a ridiculous rate.
