I feel like the disparity between the current LHA, and current Market Rental Prices is simply not being addressed at all. Many people just cannot afford these rents! £1350 for a 2 bedroom? How?

Maidstone is growing beyond all recognition mainly in a negative way.
Too many new developments, too many people and Maidstone has lost that aura of being one of the more upmarket places to live/visit a long time ago.

There are many issues yourvsurvey doesn't cover. Completely uncontrolled rise in Houses of multiple occupation and your inability or unwillingness to address it

MBC needs to do much more to tackle the climate emergency and the poor air quality in the borough. We need to prioritise infrastructure for cycling and walking and provide low cost, convenient and reliable public transport. The borough also has a huge problem with idling vehicles, for which no one ever seems to be penalised.

I was disappointed this survey was only about residents and their lifestyles and accessing MBC information than about issues that affect us like housing planning, traffic, schools, reduction in services, cleanliness, etc.

An interesting survey, but no questions about general cleanliness or shops and facilities--especially town centre, which, apart from Fremlin Walk, is pretty awful.

I have lived in the Borough for more than 50 years, and I'm sorry to say that in that time I have seen Maidstone reduced from a wonderful town, full of excellent shops and businesses to what it is today. A town full of boarded up premises, filthy streets and full of lawlessness. I would not contemplate going into the centre at night under any circumstances. There is no noticeable police presence and everybody takes advantage of this to behave worse than animals.I think the people responsible for this decline should be thoroughly ashamed, but I doubt they are.I cannot see this situation changing for the better any time soon.

More police presence in Maidstone town centre during the day and night not just driving a patrol car but on foot it’s no good just leaving a patrol car parked up in Jubilee square.thinking there are police in town when they are not. Too much begging in door ways Traffic driving through the High st which is meant only for taxis and buses. This needs to be controlled by Police or PSCO this is where the police presence comes in. Better Bus service for Grove Green as there are a lot of the older generation. New bus routes to be considered for example bus service to eclipse retail park.

The area is now a mess, bins constantly overflowing resulting in people throwing rubbish on floor instead of taking home because people are lazy, Lack of disabled parking and lack of parking in general that doesn’t cost a fortune. Advertising of events is minimal. No more flats!!

The biggest problem in Maidstone is lack of access to services. Can't see a G.P. Plus support/social groups for elderly but not much for adults with disabilities.

This is a really good idea and will hopefully generate positive actions for a great town to continue to evolve. I really hope that we look to the future and become as green and sustainable as possible so that future generations can enjoy Kent too.

We have a first class museum which in the last few years seems to be undervalued by MBC. It is now closed for 2 months in the winter. Also with reduced hours of opening which means students can not visit after school to do research as last entry is 4pm closing at 4.30pm. I appreciate that the museum is not something that MBC have to fund. But it ticks all the so called boxes of providing education and wellbeing to the borough. It is truly an asset to the town even if not all of the local population appreciate. Some of its collections are so important that the likes of the Victoria & Albert museum visit. So please give it the funding it deserves so it is not a part time museum for staff and visitors.

You seem to be more interested in the people and not the town in this survey. Maidstone has some amazing Historic buildings. Most of Lower and Upper Stone Street are Grade 2 listed but it is the slums of Maidstone. The Planning Department could sort this problem out. When you think every vehicle has to come into Maidstone town centre to go out the other side, what a picture these streets leave on people passing through!. Maidstone has also never addressed the traffic problem and it's answer was to scrap the Park and Rides. Typical of a Borough Council whose Councillors are not interested in the County Town of Kent. The need to buck their ideas up and get Maidstone's Historic buildings and the traffic problems sorted, and not buy selling it all off. They also need to address the types of new estates with their lack of facilities and types of housing. (Shepway with it's green spaces would never allowed to be built today). Come on Maidstone Councillors, wake up and start to take care of a Maidstone that we can all be proud of.

Maidstone has so much to offer, however is totally let down by the sheer state of the place. There is noticeably so much litter in streets, paths, bushes, everywhere, often dropped by people admittedly, but often the result of overfull street bins.
