The survey is being conducted by Maidstone Borough Council.
How is the survey being conducted?
The survey is being conducted online and by post with residents of Maidstone Borough.
Who is eligible to take part?
Residents of Maidstone Borough aged 18 years and over.
What is the survey about?
The survey asks residents about their opinions and perceptions of various topics related to the Maidstone area and Maidstone Borough Council.
Why is this survey being run?
The survey is being run to capture the views of Maidstone residents about the Council, the community and the local area. This research will help inform the Council in its decision making and its plans for improving local and community services.
How long does the survey take?
The survey should take no longer than 15 minutes. It may take slightly longer if residents wish to provide more detail in their answers.
Is there a prize draw and what are the prizes?
Every resident who completes the survey can enter into a prize draw to be in with a chance of winning one of the following prizes:
Winners will be selected at random when the survey has finished. You can take part in the survey and not enter into the prize draw if you wish.
All participants who enter the prize draw are eligible for a 7-day gym pass at Maidstone Leisure Centre. An email containing a link will be sent out to those that have opted in once the survey has closed.
What will be done with residents’ answers to the survey?
Maidstone Borough Council’s Corporate Insight Team will analyse the survey responses and provide a report to key service areas and Elected Members. Research findings will be reported in a way that is aggregate and anonymous so that responses cannot be linked to any one person.
When are postal surveys being sent out to residents?
A mailing of 6,100 surveys is being sent to a random sample of households across the Borough throughout September.
Do people have to take part?
No, the survey is entirely voluntary and people can opt out at any time (even if halfway through). However, taking the time to complete the survey will help the Council to better understand the views of its residents and what improvements might be needed in the future.
How have Maidstone Borough Council publicised the survey?
There is information about the survey on the Maidstone Borough Council website, our engagement platform Lets Talk, and social media channels.
Local Parish Councils and community groups have been informed about the survey and Officers will be attending events across the Borough during the consultation period.
Where does Maidstone Borough Council source people’s contact details?
The Council has an electronic mailing list with the email addresses of people who have requested to be kept informed about any Council consultations. Those on this list can request to be removed at any time.
The random sample for the postal survey has been obtained from the list of properties registered to pay Council Tax, this sample does not include named individuals.
Does the survey ask for people’s contact details?
Contact details are optional and are only requested for the specific purposes of opting into the prize draw and requests to be added to the electronic mailing list for consultations.
