I want Maidstone Town Centre to be…

My biggest worry at the moment is...

And you can use our map tool to tell us where you would change!

Like most surveys this doesn't ask the questions I really want to answert!

What is this? almost 2 years ago

Because of the high rates and high cost of parking etc companies have been leaving MAIDSTONE and replaced by cafes and other eateries. Outside shopping centres provide free parking so why would anyone want to shop in town. Maidstone is just becoming a cafe centre.

I look forward to hearing what others have said.

The survey did not cover the extensive house building in this area. Neither has it coverage issues surrounding the residents being house from outside the Maidstone area. These matters are of more importance. , Maidstone town centre is so dismal , people would rather go else where. Finally We have a wealth of beautiful historic buildings left to decay. Turning the Bishopps palace into a hotel/restaurant. Is a sacrilege.

As a county town centre Maidstone is a disgrace. Hardly any shops of repute, dossers sleeping in town centre and apart from food shops no decent clothes shops.

There are plenty of green spaces to go too, but far too many road works I have never known so many. And too many new houses but no extra dentist or doctors

I hope my responses go some way to helping improve our waste collection service.

Our Recycling collection has been missed for over a month and our black bins have been missed for 2 weeks in a row.

Reporting the missed collection doesnt seem to achieve anything

Always hard to complete surveys on behalf of mbc. I live on the outskirts most services here are provided by Medway.

Linda almost 2 years ago

I completed 3/4 of survey , had to stop for a few minutes & it reset to the start without saving any answers! Complete waste of my time!

Q43 didn't give social media as contact means. I have used twitter to contact the council.

Teenagers crime is a big issue in town and ruin the town atmosphere, particular in week street. They need to be deal with seriously.

1.Planning -Housing ,Highways etc. knee jerking to government targets at the cost of locals right to a well maintained , safe , environmentally pleasant place to live.
2. Over crowding -Too many HMOs granted in streets and infrastructure that can barely cope with Victorian housing stock and neglected road systems.
3.Shoddy at best town centre and borough wide improvement work .Who over sees and sign’s the work off as completed to a high standard and VALUE for money ?
4 Taking away pedestrian crossings at St Peters Bridge junctions without any real alternatives , especially as the ones left regularly still flood leaving pedestrians to make unsafe crossings
4 Allowing the building of very ugly high rise flats .. have the 60s buildings taught the council nothing ??
5. Allowing most roads to become no more that farm tracks with cavernous potholes , dirty with blocked drainage
5 Not enforcing littering through the entire borough
6Allowing dog fowling
7Allowing antisocial behaviour
8Allowing residence to dump unwanted furniture, fridges etc on the footpaths out side their houses for months before eventual collection
9 Allowing most the green verges in the town and river area to become neglected and full of rubbish
10 Allowing exorbitant parking fees in the town and parks
11Allowing building on brown field sites that do not fit the local housing . Normally high rise and over crowding the locality . (NO infrastructure-Schools ,doctors, dentists , roads , parking drainage etc.) For example Hermitage Lane !!!!!
I could go on more but I really think this bit of soapboxing is a waste of time and effort as MBC. and KCC will do what they have always done .. ignore it ad carry on as usual

MY ROAD CAR PARKING IS UNSATISFACTORY BEING USED BY LARGE COMMERCIAL VECIALS

HENRY almost 2 years ago

Some of the questions were not relative to retired people living alone and on low income (income brackets were quite wide) and all amenities were in or around Maidstone itself so doesn’t help if you live more than a mile outside

J lamb almost 2 years ago

Maidstone urgently needs new planning structure. Too much money wasted, senseless planning applications approved, tick box rather than common sense

Jules almost 2 years ago

I love here because of the green spaces and country..I am glad there has been affordable housing for local people but enough now! Villages don't want to become towns! I am worried about antisocial behaviour

Allington park and ride should be brought back and incorporated with hospital staff free parking and shuttle bus through Croudace development.
Stop building!
